Our pastor, Rev. John Knutson, has been at Christ the King since 1994. He is married to Diane, who works as a family law attorney and municipal court judge. She loves to play the flute and is a Stephen’s Ministry Leader. Their son Pat is in high school and plays the stand-up and electric bass.

Pastor John was born in Amery, Wisconsin
and was raised on a dairy farm. He was the oldest of four children, and
at age 15, his mom died. His dad soon remarried, making John the oldest
of nine children. After high school, he worked at a dairy cooperative
and a Christian school for troubled youth. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout and then received his Master of Divinity Degree at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.
He received his Doctor of Ministry in Preaching
degree from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 2005. Before arriving in Durango, Pastor John served his initial call at First Lutheran in Ault, Colorado. He enjoys being a volunteer with Durango Fire and Rescue, canoeing and drinking Mountain Dew.
